When is the best time of the year to visit?
Any time of the year is a Great time to visit the lodge, since the weather varies slightly from month to month.Yacuma is located in the tropical rainforest of the Ecuadorian Amazon, which is characterized for heavy rainfalls during the year with precipitations among 3,000 and 4,000 mm3 and humidity between 85° to 95°. From December to March, it has a marked dry season, the rainy weather goes from April till July; and from August to November precipitations are moderated.
The annual temperature ranges over 25 Celsius degrees (77 Fahrenheit).Average daytime temperature is 88º F (31°C) and night time temperature is 72º F (22°C) regardless of the time of year.
Do we need Vaccinations to enter to the jungle?
No vaccinations are required to enter Ecuador or Yacuma Ecolodge. There have not been any cases of tropical diseases (malaria, yellow fever, cholera) reported in or near the lodge. However, we always suggest that our passengers consult their doctor to get most up-to-date information and advice before they come to the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest.
Is Yacuma Ecolodge reachable by road?
Visitors will drive from Quito, following the beautiful route that goes through Papallacta and Baeza towns, until arriving to the city of Tena. From Tena to San Pedro village, you will be traveling around 2 hours. The only accessible way to get to the lodge is by canoe, this take around 25 minutes to get to the lodge.
Yacuma Lodge located in a magnificent jungle spot. Visitors can also fly from Quito to the city of Tena every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If you arrive to Tena by plane we will pick you up at the airport and take you to San Pedro Village and then by canoe to Yacuma Ecolodge. (extra cost)
Can my child visit the lodge?
Kids are very welcome at Yacuma Ecolodge. In fact, our lodge is every kid’s fantasy: a place to hike, swim, fish, row and generally play around. We have had kids as young as ten months and groups of up to 15 at a time. So make your kids enjoy the jungle too! Children under 6 years old do not have to pay the cost of the tour, if they stay with their parents in the same room and share the same bed.
Kids between 6 and under 12 years old pay 50% cost of the tour if they stay on the same room with their parents but with un bed extra.
Kids from 12 and more pay the complete cost of the tour.
How the bungalows look like?
Our 12 comfortable bungalows present a traditional Amazon-style, built from materials harvested from the rain forest in a sustainable manner and combined with modern materials. Our 24 rooms, the restaurant and the social area, have electricity from solar energy, private facilities that can accommodate in total of 56 people. They are comfortable, spacious, and are equipped with mosquito nets and private bathroom.
The Electricity is provided from solar panel in the lodge and if you want to recharge batteries (110 W) you can do it at the social area.
The plugs for recharging batteries have two holes for Ecuadorian plug. We recommend that you bring a transformer of two/three plane prongs or circle prong plug.
Restrictions Meal /Vegetarian/special diets:
The food is our pride. So please do not hesitate in requesting a special diet. Vegetarian and special diets are served upon request and we handle these requests with great care and pleasure.
Rubber boots are very good for hiking in the rain forest, they help protect feet from plants and insects as well as streams. Yacuma Ecolodge offers boots as a courtesy to our guests, available from size 6 to size 12.
